THE LABYRINTH
THE PALACE OF MINOS, KNOSSOS
It was the first great royal palace ever built in Europe.
It survived earthquakes and invasions for nearly a
millennium. And after it fell into ruins, it inspired such
stories as Theseus and the Minotaur, and Pasiphae
and the Bull. The ruins themselves entered into
European lore as the Labyrinth. This lecture will
discuss the construction, destruction, and fate of the
palace, as well as the origins of some of the most
famous stories of Greek mythology.
